The Insider's Guide to Shopping Fine Jewelry on Instagram Live

By Frances, MyLuxVault Host · 7 minute read · Category: Instagram Live

If you've stumbled onto one of our Instagram Live shows on @FancyxFrances, you've probably noticed things move fast. Someone comments "mine" on a pearl bangle, 40 seconds later another viewer claims a pair of hoops, and somewhere in there I'm holding up a certificate under the camera light. If you've never shopped live before, here's everything you need to know to buy confidently.

When we go live

Weekly shows with occasional drops for new collections and holidays. Follow @FancyxFrances and turn on live notifications so Instagram pings you when we go on.

Most pieces shown live are one-of-one or extremely limited stock. Live is the only place many of them ever get offered.

How claiming works

It's simple: when a piece is up, be the first to type "mine" or "sold" (or similar call outs) in the live comment stream. The live host's assistant then pins this in the comments. First in wins. We honor the order we see the claim come through.

A few ground rules:

  • One claim per piece per viewer unless we call a second call-out.
  • No deleting and re-posting to jump the line.
  • If two claims land within the same second, we DM both viewers and sort it out fairly.

How payment works after you claim

Within a few minutes of claiming, you'll get a DM from us with:

  1. A confirmation of the piece, metal, carat weight, and price
  2. A secure, one-time checkout link directly into myluxvault.com
  3. We accept all credit cards and zelle, venmo, cashapp if you prefer
  4. You can also pay via Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay via a checkout link we provide.
  5. A shipping form
  6. An optional insurance upgrade (see link for details)

Payment is handled on Shopify's checkout or Stripe — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay. We do accept payment via DM cash apps and Zelle for items you purchased on our live.

You typically have 24 hours to complete checkout before we offer the piece to the next viewer in line.

What you're buying

Every piece shown on our Instagram Live is already inside the MyLuxVault vault. That means:

  • It has passed our 7-step authentication process
  • Metal karat is verified and stamped
  • Total diamond carat weight is graded in-house (or certified, when noted)
  • Every item is photographed and described live on camera so you see exactly what you're getting
  • Pieces are professionally cleaned, polished, and securely packaged before shipping.

Shipping after a live buy

Pieces purchased on a Sunday show typically ship Monday or Tuesday via UPS or USPS, signature required, fully insured. US orders are extra (see FAQ) standard shipping is $20 USD. International shipping via UPS International Priority is also available.

You'll receive a tracking link by email as soon as the package leaves our studio.

Sizing on a live show

We'll often show ring sizes live, but because rings are one-of-one, the size on camera is the size you get unless we explicitly offer resizing. When available:

  • 14K gold rings — resizable up to two sizes in either direction in most cases
  • Eternity bands and channel-set pieces — generally not resizable
  • Necklaces and chains — we offer chain length adjustments at an extra cost within 14 days

Bracelets can usually be lengthened or shortened by a link or two. Always ask on the live host before claiming if size matters.

Returns on live purchases

Live purchases follow our standard return policy. If the piece doesn't match anything we disclosed on air or in the listing, we make it right, every time. For change-of-mind, we offer store credit toward a future live — detailed in our FAQ.

Live etiquette — the unwritten rules

  • Claim only what you intend to purchase. We ask that every claim be a genuine purchase. If a claim is repeatedly left incomplete at checkout, we may need to prioritize buyers who are ready to complete their order. This community is built around collectors who truly love fine jewelry.
  • Ask questions in the comments. We love them. "Is it 14K or 18K?" "What's the total carat weight?" "Can you show the clasp?" These are exactly the questions smart buyers ask.
  • Tag a friend when something looks like them. The best compliments we get are "my mom would love this."
  • Share your piece when it arrives. Tag @FancyxFrances in your unboxing — your post becomes a legit trust signal for the next viewer.

Why Instagram Live works for fine jewelry

A photograph can't show a diamond's fire the way motion can. On Live, you see the stone turn in the light. You hear us explain the setting, the clasp, the karat. You can ask a question and get an answer in real time — from the person about to ship you the piece. It's the closest thing to visiting the studio in person, from your couch.

We think it's the future of buying fine jewelry, which is why we're all-in on it.

Frequently asked

Do I need to follow you to claim?

Technically no, but we highly recommend it — Instagram prioritizes comments from followers and we can DM you more easily.

What if my internet drops and I miss a claim?

Comment as soon as you're back. If the piece is still open, we'll honor it. If not, we can often source a similar piece.

Can I put a piece on hold without claiming?

Yes, during the show. Send a DM before the show ends and we'll hold briefly. No holds post-show.

Do you ship internationally on live claims?

Yes, free worldwide shipping, FedEx International Priority, fully insured. Duties may apply at delivery.

Where can I see past lives?

Saved to the IG profile as Reels and Highlights on @FancyxFrances.
